The season so far...

FFA Centre of Excellence
The FFA Centre of Excellence are top of the National Premier League ladder with five games left to play.

In the final season of the FFA Centre of Excellence’s existence the academy have risen to the summit of the PS4 National Premier League ladder with only five rounds remaining.

Tony Vidmar’s side has scored on 38 occasions and have only conceded 11 times. With nine wins, one draw and two losses the academy sit top of the ladder with 28 points.

Numerous players have provided the stimulus for the Centre’s incredible season, showing the worth of the program that will close in August.

Louis D’Arrigo, Kai Trewin and Jay Barnett have shown harmony as a midfield trio since first-team regular Bryce Bafford, who started the season off with four goals in five games, went down through injury.

Captain Joel King has lead by example in every game he’s played and has displayed consistency as the side's principal centre-back.

Jacob Italiano established himself as one of the premier players in the competition at just 15-years-old. The midfielder has been a regular in Tony Vidmar’s side having featured in every game this year, scoring four goals along the way.

Equally teammates Mirza Muratovic, Jay Barnett, James Fletcher and Cam O’Doherty have all played in every round.

Goalkeeping duties have been shared between Matt Sutton and Jordan Griffiths. Both have shown their ability against the best strikers in the league, recording six clean sheets between them.

Striker Mirza Muratovic sits fifth in the top-goal-scorer race having netted nine times in eleven games, surpassing last seasons tally already.

Defender Luke Callen successfully returned from a 12-week heal injury and has impressed in his first two games of the year.

Patrick Scibilio, Ben Obst and Jeremy Saint have all exhibited their worth as valuable fullbacks and more recently forwards Charlie Mavros and Lleyton Brooks have proven their value as goal-scorers.

Midfielders Melad Ahmad and Jake Jovanovski have improved with every game they’ve played.

Following a knee injury, Jai Seldon is the only FFA Centre of Excellence player who is yet to made an appearance this season.
